The walk starts at the very heart of Momignies, the capital of the municipality, in front of the Administration Communale (local authorities' building), a Renaissance-style building erected in the late 19th c.
Throughout the walk, you will see chapels, oratories, calvaries and "potales" (recesses for statues of saints). They are encountered everywhere, along the main paths, along the hedges, hidden in the masonry of a farm wall or backing onto a tree. This is specific to Thiérache, and in fact they are also found on the other side of the border. Often the beautiful oak statues have been stolen.
