How to track a hike on my Garmin watch?
To be able to track a hike with the SityTrail app on your Garmin watch, open a hike on the SityTrail or SityTrail+ app on your smartphone and start tracking the hike from your smartphone as explained here: How do I turn on trail following?
This operation only needs to be performed once.
Choice of tracking mode
In the SityTrail app, the tracking is always done in "compass" mode (direction arrow).
In the SityTrail+ application currently being tested, you can choose the tracking mode as explained here: How to choose a guidance mode?
Compass mode tracking (direction arrow)
The main screen of the app on the watch will indicate the direction to follow with an arrow and the angle in degrees.
As you approach a change in direction, a sound and a vibration will occur (different sounds and vibrations depending on whether you need to turn left or right) according to the choices set in the app's settings on the watch.
Roadbook tracking (SityTrail+ only)
The main screen of the app on the watch will indicate
- The next navigation instruction (requiring a change of direction) in the center of the screen
- The following navigation instruction to the right of the screen, if it is very close to the next navigation instruction.
In this case, the number of meters below this next instruction indicates the distance between the next instruction and the following one. - The text associated with this navigation instruction at the time when you need to change direction.
By changing the settings on the smartphone app as explained here How to change the settings of the guidance panel? , you can choose whether you also want the triggering of intermediate intersections that do not require a change of direction.
