Description

Winenne is thought to be a toponym of Germanic origin during to the Frankish era. The -enne suffix is probably Walloon.
Winenne was once a seigneury and a dependency of the County of Agimont; its main economic activities are agriculture and forestry. Towards the end of the 19th century the village featured a a chalkstone quarry, a tannery and a limekiln.
